A new stand-alone hockey romance from USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen.

On the eve of her thirtieth birthday, sports agent Bess Beringer is ready to make some changes. Armed with a five-year plan—indexed and color coded—she’ll tackle her personal life with the same zeal that she brings to her successful agency.

A big, tall, ripped hunk of hockey player who’s just been traded to the Brooklyn Bruisers is not a part of that plan. Mark “Tank” Tankiewicz has a lot of baggage. He’s a ride-or-die loner with a bad reputation. He’s on the rebound. He’s also the sexiest thing on two legs, and for some crazy reason it’s Bess that he wants.

She knows better. But then she falls stupid in love with him anyway. And for a while it seems like maybe he’ll do the same.

Until she asks him for the one thing he can never give her…

Sarina Bowen is one of my new favorite authors and I LOVE her hockey series. I love this nosy team so much! I was so excited to dive back into the Bruisers world and see all my old favorites.

As a magical revolution remakes a city, an ancient evil is awakened in a brilliant new novel from the Hugo-nominated author of Foundryside and the Divine Cities trilogy

Having narrowly saved the metropolis of Tevanne from destruction, Sancia Grado and her allies have turned to their next task: sowing the seeds of a full-on magical-industrial revolution. If they succeed, the secrets behind scriving—the art of imbuing everyday objects with sentience—will be accessible to all of Tevanne’s citizens, much to the displeasure of the robber-barons who’ve hoarded this knowledge for themselves.

But one of Sancia’s enemies has embarked on a desperate gambit, an attempt to resurrect a figure straight out of legend—an immortal being known as a heirophant. Long ago, the heirophant was an ordinary man, but he’s used scriving to transform himself into something closer to a god. Once awakened, he’ll stop at nothing to remake the world in his horrifying image.

And if Sancia can’t stop this ancient power from returning? Well, the only way to fight a god…is with another god.
I read the first book in this series last year and really enjoyed it, while I did enjoy this one a lot, I have to admit I struggled with it a little bit. I think mostly this might stem from my mood reading and how reading a very complex fantasy novel is just not what I want right now. The complex stuff...I'm still not sure I even understand the whole scriving thing in this series. It's interesting, but I don't get it.

My best friend's kid sister wants me to get her pregnant.
The old fashioned way.

I've looked out for Ariel since she was in pigtails. I took her trick or treating, told off the jerk who dumped her, picked her up from Prom.
When she needs my help, I'm there. Only she doesn't need a ride, a study partner, a new tattoo.
Ariel wants me to get her pregnant. The old fashioned way.
Three months of trying. Then we go back to our lives.
It's a terrible idea. I should say no. I should convince her to wait for Mr. Right.
But the geeky grad student is sure it's now or never.
And I'm sure as hell not going to let her find someone else.
CW/TW: Cancer

This was my first book by this author and I'll admit the plot for this one was a little over the top, but I enjoyed it! I'm not one hundred percent sure if the stuff about her cancer and how she had to have a hysterectomy was really accurate (I don't know about that stuff) but I kind of ran with it since that's the point of her wanting to have a baby. Not sure why it had to be done the old fashioned way, but you know...bonkers plot!

Dear Sexy AF Intern,

I know you don't particularly care that I'm the CEO of this company, and you're just an intern. I also know you're not impressed by my power or my wealth, and that's fine.

You think you've got me all figured out from working alongside me for two weeks, but you don't know me. Not really.

You don't know that I'm a single dad to twin toddlers, or that those two little girls matter more to me than this entire hotel chain.

I'm not interested in starting something deep and meaningful, but what I am interested in is the way your body reacts to mine when we're in the same room. You probably assume the concentration on my face is work-related, when in reality, I'm figuring out which I want more--to nail you against the wall, or to bend you over my desk.

While you're too disciplined to act on it, I'm not. And the night you stepped into my limo, all bets were off.
I really like Kendall's hot jock series, so I decided to try one of her other books. I don't think this was the right one to start with. This book was just not for me.

Betty Dawsey knows that breaking things off with Thom Lange is for the best. He’s nice, but boring, and their relationship has lost its spark. But steady and predictable Thom, suddenly doesn’t seem so steady and predictable when their condo explodes and she’s kidnapped by a couple of crazies claiming that Thom isn’t who he says he is.

Thom is having a hellish week. Not only is he hunting a double agent, but his fiancĂ©e dumped him, and thanks to his undercover life, she’s been kidnapped.

Turns out Thom is Operative Thom and he’s got more than a few secrets to share with Betty if he’s going to keep her alive. With both their lives on the line, their lackluster connection is suddenly replaced by an intense one. But in his line of work, feelings aren’t wanted or desired. Because feelings can be a lethal distraction.
Around the holidays I saw a twitter thread talking about how bonkers this book is, so I decided to give it a try! I don't read a lot of romantic suspense so this was a fun one. Also, the cover model totally looks like Keanu Reeves, right? It sold me! This was also my first book from this author, but I definitely will read another from her.

She wants my help… I want a wife.
We’re a match made in heaven.
At least until I change the deal… And demand a baby instead.

Ruby drifted into my life like a gorgeous mystery: no history, no background, nothing. She was a ghost but I kept her around anyway. Sensual, pouty, way too sexy for her own good... I gave her a job and kept an eye on her.

And then she brought trouble like wild fire.

Fortunately, I’m not the kind of man that turns away from a challenge… and I love to turn a bad situation around to my benefit. She needs help and I want a wife, so it’s time for baby girl to wear my diamond ring.

I’m a demanding man… a tough man to please… but Ruby better get to work. If she wants my protection, I need a perfect little wife… willing to do whatever I please, whenever I need it.

At first she’s just a new toy, the kind that makes my blood pulse and a growl escape my lips.

But that changes fast. Now I want even more and I know she’s willing to give it all up.

If she wants my help… she’d better give me a baby.

Get ready for a wild ride! This one has steam galore, it has excitement, it has everything you could ever want from a dirty, fast-paced book! It’s over the top and super hot, so if you’re not into bad boy bosses that take what they want and defend their love with everything, this might not be for you. Otherwise, get ready! There’s no cheating, no cliffhanger, and it features a happily-ever-after. Enjoy!

Okay, got to admit this book was a little over the top, but if you like fast-paced books that are a little bonkers, this one is for you. This was actually my first book by this author. I have read a couple more of her books. I'm still not sure about her style, but I think I want to support her because she's local!

In Alisha Rai’s second novel in her Modern Love series, a live-tweet event goes viral for a camera-shy ex-model, shoving her into the spotlight—and into the arms of the bodyguard she’d been pining for.

OMG! Wouldn’t it be adorable if he’s her soulmate???

I don’t see any wedding rings [eyes emoji]

Breaking: #CafeBae and #CuteCafeGirl went to the bathroom AT THE SAME TIME!!!

One minute, Katrina King’s enjoying an innocent conversation with a hot guy at a coffee shop; the next, a stranger has live-tweeted the entire episode with a romantic meet-cute spin and #CafeBae is the new hashtag-du-jour. The problem? Katrina craves a low-profile life, and going viral threatens the peaceful world she’s painstakingly built. Besides, #CafeBae isn’t the man she’s hungry for...

He’s got a [peach emoji] to die for.

With the internet on the hunt for the identity of #CuteCafeGirl, Jas Singh, bodyguard, friend, and possessor of the most beautiful eyebrows Katrina’s ever seen, comes to the rescue and whisks her away to his family’s home. Alone in a remote setting with the object of her affections? It’s a recipe for romance. But after a long dating dry spell, Katrina isn’t sure she can trust her instincts when it comes to love—even if Jas’ every look says he wants to be more than just her bodyguard

I didn't read the first book in this series, but I didn't feel like I missed anything and I might go back to read that later. This was actually my first book I've read from this author. I'm used to reading a lot of books with dual perspective first person but this one was in third person and kind of went back and forth between the two's thought in that way. I feel like people really like this way of writing, but honestly I prefer first person. Just a preference!
