A sexy new standalone from USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen.
You’d think a billion dollars, a professional hockey team and a six-bedroom mansion on the Promenade would satisfy a guy. You’d be wrong.
For seven years Rebecca has brightened my office with her wit and her smile. She manages both my hockey team and my sanity. I don’t know when I started waking in the night, craving her. All I know is that one whiff of her perfume ruins my concentration. And her laugh makes me hard.
When Rebecca gets hurt, I step in to help. It’s what friends do. But what friends don’t do is rip off each others’ clothes for a single, wild night together.
Now she’s avoiding me. She says we’re too different, and it can never happen again. So why can’t we keep our hands off each other?
First things, first, if you are confused about the order of Sarina Bowen's Brooklyn Bruisers series, um so am I. I think I figured out why this is classified as book one in her "Brooklyn" series and not book four in her "Brooklyn Bruisers" series...different publishers! However, the two series are connected, so if you start this one first, I think it's totally okay because you can read this book on it's own and then go back to read the other ones later. I have to say I think this one might be my favorite, because I loved Becca in the other books and it was SO obvious that Nate was into her. Like so obvious, to everyone but her! So I couldn't wait to dive into this book.

This book is a little different than the other books in the series, because we get the perspectives from Nate and Becca's point of view, but we also get the flashback in 3rd person to explain all the history they have. It shows how they become assistant and boss, and how that blossomed into a friendship over seven years. Even though they were both attracted to each other, but never acted on it. I thought this was an odd stylistic choice, but at the same thing it really grounded these two characters and showed you why them becoming lovers had a lot of weight to it.

Like Bowen's other books, there are some steamy scenes in this one. I do have a little beef with the first one, because they don't practice safe sex. Bec is on the pill, which Nate knows, but it kind of bothered me that he didn't ask her if he was okay to not wrap it up, you know? She doesn't say anything about it or protest during it, so I was happy that they discuss it later on. That part just rubbed me the wrong way. One thing I have liked about romance books it is that safe sex is always a main component.

I did really like Nate, and it was interesting to see how he was realistically a Billionaire. He was just this tech guy writing code one day and all of sudden he made a ton of money off it. The book deals a lot with not only the romance, but him juggling his tech empire and all that entails as well as owning a hockey team. I would still consider this one a hockey romance even though the guy isn't an athlete. Since he owns the team, there is a lot of hockey it in too, and a lot of the plot deals with how well his team is fairing in the playoffs.

I think these two are my favorite couple so far, they just had this great chemistry together and it was such a nice friends-to-lovers book. I was unsure if I was going to read Pipe Dreams because I felt like Lauren was kind of a bitch in the other books. I was glad I read this book first because we see a softer side of Lauren and it made me want to read her book next.

If you are a fan of this series or love a good friends to lovers, I highly recommend.
