My name’s Max Hall, and I need to f***. As a pro hockey player who’s been away from the game for over a year, my libido has picked one hell of an an inconvenient time to come roaring back to life.

After my wife died from a rare form of cancer, sex was the last thing on my mind. Same with hockey, the other love of my life. Now, after fifteen months of eating too much, drinking too much, and generally just feeling sorry for myself, I’m facing a steep uphill battle to get my ass in shape and play my way back onto the Chicago Aces.

So I’m not looking for a relationship. Just sex. Yeah, I know how that makes me sound. But the truth is, I’ll never love another woman the way I loved my wife. When I meet a sexy bridesmaid at my teammate’s wedding, I decide to scratch that itch. A fling with Kendra Armstrong in her posh hotel room could be just what the trainer ordered.

Not only is Kendra smokin’ hot, she’s dynamite in bed—one of the perks of being a sex toy designer. Since she lives in New York anyway, we agree to keep things casual, no strings attached. The arrangement is perfect . . . until one of us falls in love. And it’s not me.
After reading Game on by Kelly Jamieson, I wanted to read the other books in the series, but I've kind of read them all out of order. Which is okay, and you can totally do that! I don't know why, but the next one I picked up with #5 Slap Shot which is Max and Kendra's story. First, I do want to say that I kind of hate the covers for this series. Like, I get these are romance books and there are a lot of sexy times, but seriously you don't need to be so obvious from the covers. That is seriously a personal opinion, because otherwise I really enjoy this series!

I've blown through this series, so after reading the entire thing, I have to say I don't think this was my favorite out of the series. Although, I don't actually know which book IS my favorite either. This one was written a little differently from the other books, as it's only from Max's perspective, and I was really bummed that I didn't get to hear things from Kendra's side of it.

Max is a seriously flawed guy, but it was also interesting to read about a character who is still grieving a bit and is not sure what they want. I really felt for him when he talked about his late wife, but at the same time I found him really frustrating because I don't think his wife wanted him to wallow after she was gone. I also found him slightly annoying when he came to his diet and exercise regime, it's like WE GET IT!

Kendra was a really cool character and it was interesting to read about a business woman like her. She was really smart, but it was clear that she doesn't make the best choices with men. Because really she should have kicked Max to the curb because he was such a jerkface to her. I was glad they have a HEA, but I really missed getting her reaction to everything and knowing what she was thinking by this book only being in Max's perspective.

I can't tell if there were more romance scenes in this one compared to the other books, but I feel like there were for some reason. Don't quote me on that, so if that's not your thing, I would not read these. If you are looking for a sexy romance to read, I recommend this one. You definitely don't need to read any of the other books in this series either to read this one.
