Fallhollow is at war. The sudden deaths of the only two heirs that could have saved it has plunged the entire land into chaos. Despite all the magic thrown at him, the Dragon King still lives. Hope for any sort of victory seems faint until Charlotte discovers a secret that could change the course of history.

Armed with the power to set things right, Charlotte embarks on a perilous journey with the sly and cunning Prince Izmayel Ascatar Venniver IV, Lord of the peaceful Edryd dragons. But her journey of peace is thwarted, and Hirth's most fearsome enemy plans to use Charlotte to destroy the kingdom and claim the universe as his own.

As Fallhollow and the Kingdom of Hirth descend into a battlefield of bloodshed and death, David, Trog, and the warriors of Hirth march toward war with an impossible plan to bring down the Dragon King, destroy his armies, and return the kingdom to its former glory. All they need is a little faith, a few extraordinary surprises, and a lot of magic of the most unexpected, generous kind.

This book is the final dramatic and magnificent conclusion to the Chronicles of Fallhollow trilogy.
Bane of the Dragon King is the third and final book in J. Keller Ford's fantasy series The Chronicles of Fallhollow. It's so bittersweet to see this series come to end. I have been lucky enough to review all the books in the series, so I really feel like I have gone on a journey with this series. This series has always given me "Skyrim Feels" it has everything a fantasy lover could want -- dragons, magic, and a kingdom at war! This series is a little hidden gem, that I would recommend to any of my YA fantasy loving friends.

What I love the most about this book is the world building. I love a good fantasy realm! I love Hirth, but in this book we get to see more of this world that David and Charlotte have landed in. We get to see the glamoured realm of the Elves and the Silver Isles. I loved Ford's descriptions of all the new lands we see in this book. I feel like I could really picture it all in my head. I also like that she expanded the world a little more to include new beings that we didn't see in the previous books like Brownies and Edryd. I also enjoy that she weaved in the modern world into this final book in a cool way. I'm being purposefully vague here because it's spoilers!

In this book we see how Charlotte has changed the most. There's a big reveal about both Charlotte and David in the beginning of the book, and for the first half of the novel Charlotte is so angry. I loved how angry she was, because I felt like it was a different side of her. It made me like her and understand her place in this story a little better. She does a lot of learning and growing in this book, but I also loved that she stuck to her morals about not wanting to kill anyone. She really tried to fight hate with love to save everyone, and I really liked that about this story.

David has grown a lot since the first book, but there were parts in this book that I had to roll my eyes at him. His jealousy whenever Charlotte spoke to Prince Venniver was a little too much to me. He kept referring to him as "Vinny" and yeah the dude was a jerk, but this put me off because it just seemed so immature. I think David still has a lot of growing up to do.

The ending of this book is so fast paced since in depicts the last battle and a whole bunch of crazy stuff happens in it. It will definitely keep your interest, and I was pleasantly surprised by a few of the things that happen. The actual ending where the story really closes the chapter on Fallhollow was really bittersweet, but I think it was a perfect way to end this series.

If you are a fantasy lover, this book has everything you want. I highly recommend this series. This final book doesn't come out until November 13th, but you can start pre-ordering it now!
