Hi! I'm Deanna, in case you haven't guessed by the title of my blog.
I'm a 2012 graduate of West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in creative writing. I currently work in advertising, while working on my craft in my spare time.
Writing has always been my passion, even since I was a little kid. I always wanted to be a novelist, especially after reading Meg Cabot's Princess Diaries series. She is my writing inspiration, and I adore everything she writes.
In college, I tried hard to find a "career" and thought for a hot second that I would go into sports journalism. I even wrote for WCU's student newspaper The Quad in my senior year by covering the women's soccer and ice hockey teams, while also writing on various blogs for the Philadelphia Flyers. I blogged about sports for a few years, and even worked part-time on the sports desk at Philly.com. In the end, sports journalism wasn't for me, but I always came back to my writing.
My interest in hockey has been really influential to my writing style, as the current two novels I am working on have a hockey element in them. I may not blog about hockey anymore (unless you count reblogging stuff on Tumblr), but my interest in the sport is still a huge part of my life, and my writing.
Hockey and writing have gone hand-in-hand for me, but I am a huge avid reader as well. It's as diverse as my tastes in music.
